Still love treating, but ready to lead?
- ——————————————
You may be an experienced physiotherapist who still enjoys clinical work, but is ready for greater influence: more opportunity to mentor others, strengthen clinical quality and help shape the future of rehabilitation services.
Active Northland is seeking a Senior Physiotherapist to become our Clinic Manager. This is a genuine clinical leadership role that allows you to remain connected to patients while guiding and developing our physiotherapy team.
Help shape a new rehabilitation facility
- ——————————————-
We are developing a purpose-designed rehabilitation facility in Te Kamo, Whangārei, with dedicated treatment spaces, a rehabilitation gym and hydrotherapy pool. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence how these facilities are used, including rehabilitation pathways, gym-based programmes, hydrotherapy and future physiotherapy services.
You will be joining at a stage where your clinical experience and ideas can make a meaningful difference – not simply inheriting an established model.
About the role
- —————–
You will maintain an agreed clinical caseload while providing approachable, practical leadership to our physiotherapists. You will be someone the team can turn to for mentoring, a second opinion or guidance with a complex presentation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing clinical leadership, mentoring and support to physiotherapists across a range of experience levels
- Maintaining high standards of clinical care, documentation and professional practice
- Supporting clinical decision-making for complex clients and rehabilitation programmes
- Building confidence, consistency and capability across the physiotherapy team
- Helping develop effective use of the new rehabilitation gym and hydrotherapy pool
- Working collaboratively with our wider multidisciplinary rehabilitation team
- Contributing to the growth and development of physiotherapy services across Northland
- Maintaining your own clinical caseload and continuing the clinical work you enjoy
More than an MSK clinic
Active Northland delivers a broad range of rehabilitation services. Depending on your interests and experience, your clinical work may include musculoskeletal physiotherapy, vocational rehabilitation, concussion, persistent pain, traumatic injury and community-based rehabilitation.
You will work alongside occupational therapists, psychologists, nurses, dietitians, rehabilitation coaches and other rehabilitation professionals. This creates genuine opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration and varied, interesting clinical work.
What we’re looking for
You do not need to have held the title of Clinic Manager. You may already lead a team, or you may be the experienced physiotherapist colleagues naturally approach for advice and be ready to take the next step.
- Current New Zealand Physiotherapy registration and membership with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a practising physiotherapist, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory capacity
- Bring a strong musculoskeletal and rehabilitation background
- Still genuinely enjoy treating patients and wish to remain clinically involved
- Enjoy mentoring and developing other clinicians
- Demonstrate high clinical and documentation standards
- Provide constructive feedback in a way that encourages people to seek support
- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Be comfortable taking ownership, using sound judgement and contributing ideas
Previous formal leadership experience would be an advantage, but we are equally interested in a credible senior clinician who is ready to move into clinical leadership.
