Are you someone who genuinely cares about the wellbeing of others? Do you believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live a fulfilling, empowered, and independent life? If you’re passionate about providing meaningful support and want to be part of a team that values compassion, respect, and inclusion — this could be the perfect role for you.

Better Access Support Services is a values-driven organisation committed to providing high-quality, person-centred support for people living with disability, mental health challenges, or other complex needs. Our goal is to empower individuals to live life on their terms — with dignity, choice, and connection to their communities. We’re a team that believes in walking alongside the people we support, not in front of them.

About the Role:

As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in delivering personalised support that enhances the quality of life for the individuals in your care. You will work closely with participants, their families, and other stakeholders to promote independence, community participation, skill-building, and emotional wellbeing. Every day is different, and you’ll be supporting clients with a range of activities depending on their unique goals and needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored support based on individual care plans
  • Provide personal care including grooming, showering, and mobility assistance
  • Support with medication prompts and routine health monitoring
  • Assist clients with community access (appointments, outings, events)
  • Encourage and support daily living skills (cooking, cleaning, budgeting, etc.)
  • Build trusted relationships with clients, families, and colleagues
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and incident reports
  • Uphold NDIS Practice Standards and organisational policies
  • Advocate for participant rights, dignity, and informed choice

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who is compassionate, dependable, and aligned with our core values of respect, inclusion, and empowerment. While experience is highly valued, we’re also open to individuals with the right attitude and a willingness to learn.

Essential:

  • A genuine passion for supporting others
  • Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Aged Care, Mental Health, or Community Services (or working towards it)
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain
  • Valid Working with Children Check (if applicable)
  • Current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle (with insurance)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Willingness to support clients with complex behaviours (training provided)
  • Valid Australian work rights or appropriate visa allowing legal employment

Desirable:

  • Experience working under the NDIS framework
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice or positive behaviour support
  • Manual handling and infection control training
  • Mental Health First Aid or experience with psychosocial disabilities

What We Offer

  • Supportive and inclusive team culture
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
  • Flexible shift options to suit your lifestyle
  • Opportunities for career progression and mentoring
  • The chance to make a tangible, lasting difference in someone’s life
  • Recognition and appreciation for the important work you do
